Independent School, published by the National Association of Independent Schools, is an open forum for exchange of information about elementary and secondary education in general and independent schools in particular. Independent School provides people associated with private schools and those interested in following trends in all sectors of education with the independent school perspective on topics that range from school operations and administration to teaching and learning and working with parents, boards of trustees, and other volunteers. It has been the premier publication in private education for more than 60 years.
Independent School magazine was profiled for its editorial and design excellence by The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP). The magazine is a three-time winner of AEP's prestigious Golden Lamp award which honors "the best of the best" in educational publishing.

We encourage submissions on any compelling topic in precollegiate education. While there are no specific editorial deadlines for submission to any issue, we generally close out each issue three months prior to publication.  Theme-related submissions that arrive too late will also be considered for future issues. In addition to articles, we also accept shorter items about school news or programs for The Reporter section of the magazine. Please indicate clearly with your submission whether your article, or any variation, has been published in another publication. Concise articles are preferred. Authors should allow at least two months for a decision.
