NAIS Webinars

NAIS holds many opportunities for online professional development each year, with a wide array of topics that include everything from student wellbeing to a school’s legal needs. Our webinars delve into the latest trends and resources to help you address your everyday school challenges, as well as training that will educate and sustain both the individual and the school community.

Promoting Well-being in Independent Schools: Supporting Teachers and Their Practice

Promoting well-being and social, emotional (and civic) as well as intellectual competencies is increasingly recognized as an essential goal that supports school and life success. Building on the 2015 NAIS-NSCC-Winston Preparatory School Wellness Survey for Independent Schools, this webinar will focus on a range of classroom based improvement strategies and resources to support teachers in their quest to increase student well-being and social, emotional and civic learning in schools.

The webinar will address the following four goals:

  • Consider research-based resources and frameworks to support prosocial instructional practices e.g. SEL and character education.
  • Provide resources and practical examples of modeling, disciplinary practice focused on learning, pedagogic strategies and well-being/SEL curriculum
  • Explore a range of pro-social (SEL and character education informed) well-being interventions including scope and sequences from Australia and the US 
  • How might we support a growing online professional learning community to further classroom-based teaching and learning that promotes well-being?

Throughout the year, NAIS offers webinars to help you make the most of DASL, from tips for data entry to benchmarking and comparison groups. These webinars allow you can get your questions answered right away so you can use your data in decision-making.

Registration for each DASL webinar is available through the DASL homepage, and is open to all DASL users (NAIS membership not required). Recordings of past webinars are available on NAIS's YouTube channel.

SSS by NAIS (for SSS subscribers)

Throughout the year, SSS by NAIS offers a free webinar series for SSS subscribers devoted to financial aid practice, policy, and communications. Each session is recorded for on-demand viewing and located within the SSS School Portal. Just log in and click on the "Home" tab.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
