Superpower Spotlight

Calling All Super Schools: Send Us Your Superheroes!

You know who they are. The wonder teacher who lassoes in the attention of her students with creativity and technology in her lesson plans. The fantastic fund raiser who leaps the annual fund goal in a single bound. The division director who fights the evil economy to restore a balanced budget for the school. The super parent who sets a strong role model for students more powerful than a locomotive. The administrator who strives to uphold the strong moral code of the school, all the while protecting his secret identity as the servant of good for the school. The leadership team that combines their enhanced senses to project energy to grow the school despite a trend in declining enrollment…

Meanwhile, back at the not-so-secret NAIS headquarters, we'll illuminate these acts of derring-do in the Superpower Spotlight. In keeping with this year’s NAIS Annual Conference theme, Adapt, Survive, and Thrive: Unleashing the Superpowers Within, we invite you to shine a spotlight on those deserving superpowers within your own institution who have made a difference in your school. The NAIS Annual Conference will highlight these success stories and share hopeful examples of a wide variety of hidden superpowers.

How to Submit Your School's Superpower

  • Nominations must be from NAIS member schools and can include staff, administration, teachers, trustees, alumni/ae, parents, and/or students.
  • For each nomination, please submit the following:
    • Name of who is being nominated.
    • A picture of who is being nominated.
    • A 500-word essay, a 12-slide PowerPoint, or 2-minute video on why your nominee is a superhero or super heroine in your school.
    • Submit all nominations to superpower@nais.org.

NAIS will spotlight a new superpower on www.facebook/NAISnetwork every Monday by 5:00pm. Plus, watch for a recap of all the superpowers at the 2010 NAIS Annual Conference, February 24-26, 2010, in San Francisco.
