Resources and Statistics

Statistics and Research

Check out our Statistics and Research area for facts and figures related to independent school management. Data on tuitions, enrollment, diversity, staffing and more can be found in this section. Due to the sensitivity and confidentiality of some data, your access to statistics may be limited based on your affiliation with and/or your role in a member school.

Demographic Center

In light of the changing demographics in the United States, school leaders need to be savvy and forward-thinking about the potential school market in their local, state, and regional areas. As a way to help members stay abreast of these changes, NAIS has launched the Demographic Center. Built using software from a well established demographic research firm, the NAIS Demographic Center is offered for free to all of its member schools

SurveyBuilder

Getting the right data to make informed, strategic decisions has never been more important. To aid you in this process, NAIS has launched Independent School SurveyBuilder.  Through this tool, schools can access tested survey tools to collect information from its constituents and evaluate progress.

Sustainable Schools

NAIS believes that in order to survive and thrive in the 21st Century, schools should address sustainability on five dimensions. Here, you'll find links to additional research and resources related to financial, environmental, global education, programmatic, and demographic sustainability.

Ideas@Work

Ideas@Work serves as a collection of curricular and other special programs currently operating in independent schools across the country. With well over 700 programs in areas such as curriculum, community service, diversity/multiculturalism, and technology, schools can gain ideas and inspiration for planning and implementing their own programs.

NAIS Communities

In response to our members' desire to have collaboration and networking tools as part of their experience with NAIS, we have created the new NAIS Communities - a forum for sharing ideas, nurturing new knowledge, and stimulating innovation in independent schools. These professional learning communities provide members with a professional, collaborative environment specifically for independent school educators.

Listserves

To facilitate connections among independent school colleagues, NAIS listserves provide opportunities for members to engage in discussion, share strategies and suggestions, and offer general support to one another. This section also identifies a few listserve opportunities outside of NAIS that are focused on independent school administrators.
