School News: Transforming the Traditional Job Fair

Fall 2018

As the workplace and workforce change, job fairs might be in need of an update. That’s why Seacrest Country Day School (FL) has transformed the concept to fit the needs of modern students and employers.

CareerQuest, the fourth annual event that took place on the Seacrest campus in March 2018, paired the roughly 300 student participants with experts from various industries in an interactive, roundtable format. More than two dozen speakers from industries including medicine, finance, sports marketing, hospitality, video game design, architecture, business, human resources, forensics, and culinary arts participated.

Along with event partner the Leadership Collier Foundation, Seacrest welcomed more than 150 students from Collier County Public Schools Career Academies, Lorenzo Walker Technical High School, The Immokalee Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County, Champions for Learning, and Grace Place for Children and Families.

“It has always been our goal to grow CareerQuest into an event that could include the greater Naples community,” says Amy Feins, Seacrest director of college counseling. “We hope to provide this unique opportunity for many years to come.”

CareerQuest is part of Seacrest’s comprehensive and individualized Right Fit College program that starts in ninth grade and includes college visits, in-house application assistance, and expert advice from counselors and faculty members.
