Follow the straightforward steps below to prepare and upload your school's data by Friday, August 7, 2026.
Before You Begin
To make it easier to submit your data, gather everything you need before you begin uploading. We recommend completing both roster templates, coordinating with any colleagues who need to contribute information, and reviewing your files before logging in to upload them.
For each student in your school's last three graduating classes, you'll submit two spreadsheet rosters:
- Roster 1: Student information, including GPA, test scores, college enrollment choice, demographics, and family financial information (if available)
- Roster 2: College application and admission results
Important: Upload Roster 1 first, then Roster 2. Both rosters must use the same unique Student ID for each student.
Step 1: Download the Templates
Download the two roster templates:
These templates are the only files you'll need to complete your submission.
Step 2: Gather Your Data
Most schools will work across multiple offices.
A typical workflow looks like this:
- College Counseling completes student, academic, and college application information.
- Financial Aid, Admission, or Business Office adds household income and net worth information, where available. Don't worry if financial information isn't available for every student. Simply leave those fields blank. Do not remove students from the roster.
Step 3: Remove Student Names
Before uploading:
- Remove all student names and any personally identifiable information.
- Keep the unique Student ID assigned to each student.
- Use the same Student ID in both rosters.
NAIS does not collect student names or contact information.
Step 4: Log In to the Student Outcomes App
Access the secure Student Outcomes app using your NAIS member account.
If someone else at your school needs access, you can invite additional users directly from within the app. If you are unable to access the app, email studentoutcomes@nais.org to request permission.
Step 5: Upload Your Files
Upload your files in this order:
- Upload Roster 1.
- Review and correct any validation errors.
- Upload Roster 2.
- Review and correct any validation errors.
- Submit.
The app will guide you through the validation process before your submission is complete.
Need to Use Google Sheets?
The Student Outcomes app accepts Excel (.xlsx) or CSV files.
If you're using Google Sheets:
- Select File.
- Choose Download.
- Select Comma-separated values (.csv).
Then upload the downloaded file to the app.
