Founded by Johns Hopkins alumni, International Medical Aid (IMA) helps high-school students explore real careers in medicine, nursing, dentistry, mental health, and physical therapy through study-abroad trips and internship experiences offered with top universities in the United States, Canada, and Europe. As HOSA–Future Health Professionals’ Premier Partner for clinical experiences, IMA designs programs specifically for high-school students that combine supervised, intensive clinical shadowing; meaningful service learning; short, interactive lessons; and expert guidance to help you build a strong pre-health college pathway—so you can discover where you fit in the healthcare field and strengthen future applications to college and, later, professional programs. Serving underserved communities in East Africa, South America, and the Caribbean, IMA works alongside local providers to bring care where it’s needed most while you learn by observing, contributing to community projects, and seeing healthcare teams in action—growth that benefits patients, providers, and students alike (Typical Eligibility: Ages 15–18; Specifics Vary by Site).
