NAIS, in partnership with AI-focused education nonprofit Ed3 DAO, is excited to offer a new suite of online, asynchronous courses designed specifically for independent school educators. These courses help teachers build practical, human-centered strategies for integrating AI into classroom management, social-emotional learning, and learner support. 

Each course blends research-backed pedagogy with accessible AI tools, ensuring technology enhances—not replaces—the relationships at the heart of great teaching. 

About the Courses

All courses are: 

  • Self-paced (fully asynchronous) 
  • Approximately 20 hours per part 
  • Mapped to UNESCO’s AI Literacy Competencies 
  • Portfolio-based with hands-on, classroom-ready activities 
  • Designed for independent school educators 
  • Aligned to research-based practices and restorative, learner-centered pedagogy 
  • Delivered via Ed3 DAO, with NAIS-issued digital badges upon completion 

Course access remains active for 12 months from enrollment.

1. Cultivating Social-Emotional Learning with AI as a Partner

A two-part course that helps educators integrate AI into SEL practices while keeping human connection at the center. Participants learn routines that develop emotional intelligence, empathy, responsible decision-making, and belonging. 

Part 1 (20 hours): Unlocking SEL Foundations with AI

Educators explore how AI can support self-awareness, self-management, empathy, and interpersonal skills. Activities include AI-assisted journaling, simulations, and empathy mapping—all designed to deepen connection and help learners understand themselves and others. 

Modules include:

Part 2 (20 hours): Designing Flexible, Inclusive SEL Environments with AI 

In Part 2, educators explore responsible decision-making, flexible learning environments, SEL growth tracking, and AI-supported family engagement. The course concludes with an AI-enhanced SEL blueprint educators can use throughout the school year.

2. Restorative Classroom Management with AI as Your Teammate

A two-part course that helps educators build relationship-centered, restorative learning environments—and use AI thoughtfully to support routines, reflection, communication, and student belonging.

Part 1 (20 hours): Designing a Classroom Culture of Safety, Belonging, and Empathy with AI

Educators learn how to establish proactive routines, strengthen teacher–learner relationships, and use AI to model agreements, logical consequences, and restorative practices. Activities introduce tools like AI-supported reflection prompts, listening circle structures, and empathy-building routines. Participants leave with strategies to design classroom cultures where students share ownership of the space and community.

Modules include:

  • Designing a Classroom Culture of Safety, Belonging, and Empathy with AI
  • Strengthening Learner–Teacher Relationships with AI-Supports
  • Modeling Routines and Logical Consequences with AI
  • Fostering Restorative Practice with AI-Supported Reflection

Part 2 (20 hours): Deepening Restorative Practice and SEL with AI Supports

Part 2 builds on the foundations of Part 1, helping educators refine restorative communication, integrate tiered SEL supports, and design advisory programs with AI assistance. Educators engage in an AI-supported reflection cycle to assess what's working and iterate on their classroom management plan.

Modules include:

  • Intentional Language & Reflecting on Practice with Generative AI
  • Integrating SEL with AI-Informed, Tiered Supports
  • Advisory Program Development with AI
  • Reflecting & Refining Classroom Management with an AI Partner
  • Capstone: Continued Development of a Comprehensive Management Plan

Coming Soon (2026): Partnering with AI for Neurodivergent Learners

This course equips educators to support neuro- and physio-divergent learners using a strengths-based approach grounded in human-centered pedagogy. Each module pairs a learner competency—such as executive functioning, SEL, or communication—with a practical AI strategy that supports personalized learning and meaningful classroom engagement.

Educators will learn to:

  • Identify and leverage student strengths
  • Personalize access and scaffolding
  • Establish meaningful learning goals
  • Use AI to support communication and reflection
  • Build inclusive learning routines and communities

Upon completion, participants receive:
