Located in Windsor, Connecticut, Loomis Chaffee is a co-educational boarding school for students in grades 9 through 12 and postgraduates. We attract a diverse student body of 742 students from more than 33 U.S. states and 48 countries — more than a third of our students identify as students of color, 14 percent are international, and 32 percent receive financial aid. At Loomis our mission is to inspire in all our students a commitment to the best self and the common good. To do this we augment our rigorous academic curriculum and outstanding athletics, arts, and co-curricular programs with a focus on teaching students how to be effective and engaged citizens in their local, national, and international communities. Young people today want to make a positive difference — they want to solve problems big and small, and they want to do it now. We provide them the opportunities and tools — through our Pearse Hub for Innovation (PHI); Alvord Center for Global & Environmental Studies; Norton Family Center for the Common Good; Center for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; research programs in science and the humanities; and independent study projects — to take their learning and put it to immediate good use. That is what we mean when we talk about Purpose Lived at Loomis.
