The LFSD motto “Les Enfants d’Abord – Children First” embodies our core principle and philosophy: that the child is the key stakeholder of the school. Every initiative, strategy, or decision will be evaluated through the lens of, “How will this affect the children?” and more importantly, “How is this beneficial to the children?” For example, in a discussion about school start and end times, many factors could be brought forward: traffic, after-school activities, convenience for parents, etc. Using the “Les Enfants d’Abord” principle, the focus would shift to which start and end times are most beneficial to the children, the key stakeholders, without any detrimental tradeoffs such as lack of sleep or shortened recess time.
