About Independent Ideas

Independent Ideas began in January 2015 as a way to extend the open forum mission of Independent School magazine and expand the conversation among educators, thought leaders, researchers, administrators, and policy experts.

We aim to nurture a broad diversity of voices and topics, thoughtfully examining new issues and taking new angles on old issues — always with an eye toward revealing root causes and offering solutions to schools’ most pressing problems. Our content is focused on six broad areas: the evolving educational landscape; talent development; new school financial models; 21st century teaching and learning; diversity and inclusion; and wellness.

The strength of this blog comes from the voices that power it, and we welcome submissions and story ideas on an ongoing basis. You can send your ideas to ismag@nais.org
