Regardless of your career stage, you’ll find the NAIS School Leadership Institute (SLI) to be a key step in your leadership development. This intensive, three-day residential program helps you better understand your own leadership style and identify your strengths as well as areas for improvement. You will be partnered in small groups to learn about the best practices and pitfalls of managing independent school people and projects. And you will also investigate your own professional relationships. After using a 360-degree assessment and the best-selling Leadership Practices Inventory, you will come away with actionable insights into your own leadership, a renewed sense of purpose for your work, and clarity about your future goals.

Best of all, SLI provides the opportunity to build close-knit relationships with mentors and peers from around the country—professionals who will sustain and support you throughout your career.

SLI brings together individuals who lead in some capacity at their schools, most often in formal administrative roles. This program is particularly helpful if you are new to managing people, new to your position, or in need of the opportunity to re-examine your purpose and practice in leadership.

  • A full 360-degree review from your colleagues, supervisors, and reports on your personal strengths and areas for improvement
