NAIS Online Institute for New Heads: A Year of Support
July 12 -16, 2021 week intensive, followed by programming through July 2022; online

We’ve expanded our premier program for incoming and second-year heads of school to provide tailored learning and support throughout the entire academic year to July 2022. For the second year in a row, we’ve extended the INH experience to include monthly small group time, continued learning and practice with experts and mentors, and useful tools and data to make your day-to-day a little bit easier. These extended benefits are included in the registration price, in addition to our signature weeklong curriculum (July 12 – 16, 2021) that provides expert guidance around key issues and a network of peers and advisors that will sustain you throughout your career.

Participation in INH will include:

  • Guidance from expert speakers and experienced heads around critical issues such as governance, finance, leading faculty and staff, and enrollment management.

  • A cohort model of peers that will provide a safe space to work through the challenges of leading a school through your first year and beyond.

  • Resources like planning documents, data tools, and case studies that will help you guide your board and staff through difficult decisions. 

This new, extended support model will begin with a weeklong online institute from July 12–16, 2021, that will be structured around daily interactive large and small group sessions. In addition to that week, participants will benefit from continued support through July 2022.
Listed below are just some of the expanded benefits that you can expect after the weeklong program ends:
  • Monthly virtual small group check-ins 

  • Monthly synchronous and synchronous learning opportunities and events around relevant topics tailored to the needs of the cohort 

  • Resources for board chairs on supporting new heads

  • Access to a cohort group discussion board to ask and answer questions throughout the year.


INH is designed for individuals who are about to start, or have just completed, their first or second year as head of school.

2021 INH Schedule
There will be a weeklong online institute from July 12–16, 2021, that will be structured around daily interactive large- and small-group sessions. Participants should block that week on their calendar to fully participate. After that week, we will communicate monthly continued education and support tailored to the needs of the cohort.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received up to 10 business days (June 28) prior to the start date of the program will be fully refunded, less a $75 administration fee. Cancellations received less than 10 business days prior to the program will not be refunded.
